I enjoy doing both personal series and contract work. The process of portrait painting is both meditative and challenging at the same time. The first stage is all about composition, layout and proportion. A familiar routine that both relaxes and focuses my mind. From there I try to bring an emotion or feeling from the portrait so that its not just about getting a likeness, but a deeper connection.
